The body design has fewer buttons because some functions are omitted, and it is simpler than XLS and the AKG emblem stands out.
This mic is characterized by its flatness, and its clean bass and well-balanced sound can be used with a variety of sound sources, regardless of whether it is a singer or a variety of instruments, making it very versatile. There are 4 directivity patterns, and the base cut filter and PAD can be switched to 2 stages, so you can set them according to the situation.
The characteristics of the sound are clear, natural, and calm. The frequency response is flat from the low range to the mid-range, and the resolution in the mid and high range is high. Since it has the same diaphragm as the C414XLS, it has a straightforward sound without any added tones, and you can feel the same texture as the C414 series. The latency is also good. If you touch on the functions omitted from the C414XLS, mainly the directivity selector switch has been reduced from 9 to 4 levels, and the low cut and PAD switches have been reduced from 4 to 2 levels. In addition, although there are slight differences in self-noise and maximum SPL, it is equipped with necessary and sufficient functions for personal use such as normal recording and home recording. Compared to the high-end model C414XLS, you may feel that the specs are inferior, but there are actually few mics with flat characteristics that can switch the directivity, and there are almost none in the same price range.
