which outputs the sound of the Peavey 5150 amplifier, designed by the legendary guitarist who shocked guitarists around the world.
When you hear the number 5150, Eddie Van Halen, the legendary guitarist, is the first thought that comes to mind. In the early days he used a Marshall amp with some professional modifications, before switching to the signature Peavey 5150. It remains his signature amp, sought by many guitarists around the world. It goes without saying that the Peavey 5150 became a huge hit as a signature amp model.
There are various theories about how Eddie Van Halen started using the Peavey 5150 head, but the Peavey 5150 was born as a two-channel amp with CH 1, which switches between clean and crunch, and CH 2, which has an attractive and intense distortion sound. In particular, the heavy distortion sound of the CH 2 and the heavy bass sound of the damping control were highly appreciated by metal guitarists. The power tube comes standard with 6L6GC, and while Eddie used to love Marshall with the 6CA7, an American made EL34 tube, it seems that the bright and good-sounding 6L6GC tube was appropriate as a late band sound trend.
After that, it was decided to upgrade the model to the 5150-II. Unlike the first generation, the 5150-II allowed independent tone control for each CH 1/2.In addition, Resonance and Presence could be adjusted independently. The deep distortion sound was alive and well, and it became a big hit following the first 5150.
The 5150 series has an Effect Loop in its models, but there is no Master Volume, which is common in recent amplifiers. If you raise the volume of the CH so that the volume of the spatial effector connected to the Effect Loop is appropriate, the sound will be explosive and you will need to use a separate attenuator. Eddie Van Halen himself used a three-speaker guitar system on stage from the beginning, and the signal to the spatial effector took out the line level from the speaker output. Since he didn’t use a Master Volume or Effect Loop, this is likely why they were omitted.
The Peavey 5150 was a big hit as an amp head, but it also launched a 12-inch 2-shot 5150 combo and a 412 straight/slant cabinet. The enclosure has a slightly angular design that gives it a hard image, and the 5150 logo on the bottom right of the cabinet shines brightly.
The standard speaker unit includes a Peavey original 5150 Sheffield 12″ speaker mounted from the back of the 4 baffle plate with a total impedance of 16 ohms. The tone balance of this Peavey 5150 Sheffield 12-inch speaker offers a very smooth impression compared to other speaker units for guitar amps. The amp offers plenty of personality and punch. You can get a crisp sound not only with high gain sounds, but also in settings where the gain is slightly lowered.
DYNAX IR is the ultimate impulse response, created with a focus on how to reproduce a realistic cabinet. DYNAX IR has a lower latency than most IRs, providing a highly responsive and realistic sound.
