AKG (formerly known as Acoustical and Cinema Equipment), was founded in Vienna, Austria in 1947. They introduced the C12 tube condenser microphone in 1953 and quickly established themselves as a world-class brand. The C-451 was the first small diaphragm microphone released by AKG, and was followed by the C-414 series and a variety of other microphones. The C-451 used a DIN output connector, which was replaced by the now popular XLR-CANON connector. The C-451E is a microphone that inherits the sound of the CK1 capsule.
